Description
Exceptional and highly unusual British India 5 Rupees uncut remainder sheet featuring 24 intact notes with additional 16 half notes (Left & Right portions visible). A fascinating survival piece reportedly recovered from a historic shipwreck environment, giving the sheet a dramatic aged appearance and strong historical character.
The sheet displays visible water exposure, preservation folds, edge losses, and natural aging consistent with long-term environmental exposure. Despite the condition challenges, the watermark pattern and repeated “Reserve Bank of India” printing remain clearly identifiable across the sheet.
Pieces of this nature are seldom encountered, especially in large-format partial sheets connected to maritime or shipwreck recovery stories. Such items attract interest from advanced collectors of British India paper money, shipwreck artifacts, error/remainder material, and historical ephemera.
Condition Assessment:
Shipwreck / water-recovered preservation state
